There are many risks to consider before buying second-hand mobile devices the main being security, though there are many pros on buying a second-hand phone, the most important thing is that you will be saving a lot of money. (for people in India)
But in this blog, I would like to focus on the cons or negative aspects,  the Risks involved in buying a second-hand mobile phone





Legal Caution-Risks involved in buying a second-hand mobile devices

Caution-If the people are genuine then both parties are safe. But the question arises when it’s a subject of misuse. It’s highly risky for the owner and the buyer as well. Which posses higher-security risk.

There are cases where the person who had purchased the second-hand phone from the owner has misused and the cyber team has traced the first owner and there were a lot of complications which led to unnecessary trouble and also the vice versa. So it is absolutely necessary to take steps before it is too late from your reach.

Tip- An agreement with Necessary details, SERIAL NO & IMEI NO

of the phone must be included at any cost.

(or)

You can take a photocopy of a Valid Government Id proof (which contains address in it) from both the parties mentioning the SERIAL NO & IMEI NO of the phone along with the signatures of the parties involved (to eliminate the risk)

For the Seller, take his photocopy containing the above-mentioned details (SERIAL NO & IMEI NO of the phone) saying that I am selling this phone to Customer name bearing SERIAL NO & IMEI NO of the phone along with the signature. (to avoid the risk)

For the Buyer, take his photocopy containing the above-mentioned details (SERIAL NO & IMEI NO of the phone) I am buying this phone from Customer name bearing SERIAL NO & IMEI NO of the phone along with the signature.

This legal document would protect both the parties from any issues in future.


Some of the other aspects that you need to look out for are-Risks involved in buying a second-hand mobile

1 .Check whether the phone unlocked?
Please know that some phones may be locked to a specific carrier, meaning you can’t activate them with another carrier. Carriers are the telecom companies like in India it is Vodafone, Airtel, Reliance JIO, Reliance, Airtel, Idea etc
Tip-check by inserting a different sim in the sim slot.
2. Check whether the used phone is stolen?
If it is a stolen Smartphone. It could work for a while. But when owner raises an alarm legally, the phone would not support any mobile carrier as the carrier will blacklist the mobile’s carrier.
Tip- Buy from a reliable and trustworthy person or from a reliable source.
